Will he put on his national jersey No. 22 again?
Former Croatian national football team standard Eduardo da Silva – Dudu, Brazilian with a Croatian passport, didn’t rule out the possibility of returning to the national team if he was invited back.
Eduardo played 64 games for Croatia, scored 29 goals and he was always the “go to player” when things were tough, so his retirement after the World Cup in Brazil took many by surprise. In his statement after he made his retirement public Eduardo said “I am saying goodbye to the national team because of Zdravko Mamić, who’s influence on the team manager, though not formal, is enormous”.
Now, a year and two months later, we ar expecting a new team manager and since it seems our players have forgotten how to score goals, bringing Eduardo back, especially given his recent form in Shakhtar Doneck seems logical “Unfortunately, that doesn’t depend on me. The most important thing is that I am playing well this season and scoring”.
Dudu is convinced Croatia will qualify to the Euro 2016 “We are missing goals, atmosphere is not great at the moment but I believe the new manager will be able to overcome these problems and everything will be ok in the end. We’re lucky two teams are qualifying and the third one will go to an additional qualification round but I believe in these guys”.
It would be nice to see him back, but since I sincerely doubt Mamić’s influence will subside any time soon, and knowing the (court) history between these two…..
