The latest development in the tragic Plancic winery saga, where it would appear that a once-great winery is being deliberately ruined for no apparent reason.
As I wrote in a piece for Google News a few months ago, the early optimism of change at Plancic, including the arrival of two exciting young winemakers – one from Argentina – evaporated amid stories of a halt in investment, unpaid salaries and a few less printable stories. New director Tomislav Tukic is no longer with the company, having left in July, and as Tportal reported a couple of days ago, majority owners Croatia Lloyd are now trying to sell the largest vineyard on the Mediterranean, all 261 hectares of it, spanning some 4.7 kilometres along the top of eastern Hvar. Tportal also reports that there is no money to buy bottles to bottle the excellent 2013 Bogdanusa which was made by the two new winemakers. It is an exceptional wine, and who knows what will happen to it. All very sad. As for gethering this year’s harvest…
