A big night for Hvar, and Croatian, wine in Rome tonight.
With his chiselled imperial features, spectacular Diocletian-replica tasting room, and exceptional hedonistic lifestyle, my next-door neighbour Andro Tomic is often likened to a Roman Emperor in the press, and I certainly know no other winemaker on the island who has done a Playboy shoot or who has a selection of male and female togas to offer his guests.
But Roman Emperors belong in Rome, which is where Andro’s wine, along with wines from four other members of the Hvar Wine Association will be part of an impressive presentation of Croatian wines in the Italian capital – PZ Svirce, Caric, Zlatan Otok and Vujnovic.
It is all happening at the Hotel Rome Cavalieri, and we will be bringing you pictures and a full report shortly. The Hvar wines being presented:
Plavac mali 2012 Tomić
Zlatan Plavac 2009 Plenković
Plovac Ploški 2009 Carić
Plavac reserva mediterano 2008 PZ Svirče
Plame 2001 Vujnović
