Simple, clever and extremely effective.
It is a tragedy that so many tourists come to Hvar, eat in its finest restaurants and mostly leave without knowing that Hvar is actually an island of wine, with a proud 2400 year tradition, world-class wines, international medals, and clients from California to China.
And so when I walked into a restaurant in Hvar Town last night, I was stunned to see the most attractive restaurant promotion of Hvar wines I have ever enountered. A wall given over to a map of the island, with helpful listings of the indigenous grape varieties of the island and the geographical location of each winemaker. Something sure to arouse interest of the restaurant’s diners, and a chance to educate them on the island’s wines.
It will probably come as little surprise that the concept came from team Rudan, who run the exceptional Giaxa, in addition to the restaurant where the wine list is to be found.
And for Hvar gourmet lovers, there is some great news…
Restaurant Luna is back!
After being closed last season, the popular eatery is now open for season 2015, with a new look interior, but with that magical, romantic rooftop terrace under the starts in downtown Hvar looking every bit as good as before.
The menu is new too, simplified to one page, and it looks great.
Why not check it out yourself and walk by. Located in Gastro Street, the best gourmet concentration of quality restaurants on Hvar, Luna is just off the main square on the first adjacent street on the way to the fortress.
The restaurant is just along from Giaxa in the map below.
