Glasses and moustache were enough for painter Antun Krešić to do a portrait of Kutjevo winemaker Vlado Krauthaker. A barrel with his face was part of the exhibition “Colors and shapes of the Golden valley” on show in Mimara museum. During the Graševina festival in June, Krauthaker has been organizing art workshops in his winery for the last three years, so artists could give new life to barrels after they’ve aged some excellent wines. Seems like this one, with the well known visual of the winemaker, might be an excellent label from Vlado’s special wine. Nothing else needs to be on the front, while all needed info can be placed on the back.
– “Wine has always brought people together, created friends and I am very glad I made friends with many artists providing them with old barrels. I dedicate this exhibition to another friend, recently deceased great Hvar winemaker Zlatan Plenković” – said Krauthaker. 16 barrels were exhibited in Mimara painted in wine and life motives or made into sculptures by Vatroslav Kuliš, Bane Milenković, Ivo Raič, Stanko Marinković, sculptor Petar Barišić… Chosen by art critic Milan Bešlić.
