The first harvest after the magical 2005. Noir Nobile is a Bordeaux coupage from the cellar of Legović family in Istria. Specific is the significant share of Cabernet Franc with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The very Cabernet Franc feels like a wine “not from around here.” I believe it would be prominent among its Loire role models. The current harvest of Franc is also 2009, presented two years ago and sold out, just entering its consumption phase…

Some of that character is felt in the Noir, which was recently marketed. Nobile Noir was created through a selection of grapes and spent 72 months in barrique. The bottle is numerated (500/2600).

Fruit and embalmment. A wine with a slow tempo. It’s not only a question of decanting but also time spent in the glass. At a loss for other word… opened too young. So much it is impossible to predict if it will become the best Bordeaux coupage in five to ten years or if it will fall apart. For comparison, Cabernet Franc of the same harvest just began to shine, but it was clear two years ago it would.

But, stars shine. Such a wine doesn’t aspire to stars. Just the opposite, it aspires to depth. Soil and stone.

Ideally imperfect, lively and truly nutritional. Full of energy, not body weight. 13.7%.

It creates its own harmony of cold, vivid acids and tiny tannin residue which melts in the mouth.
