Multi-layered and striking wine is the Merlot 2012 Superior by Franc Arman from Vižinada on the Istrian peninsula. With a very dark ruby colour, its scent has balanced fruitiness, minerality and spices, and the taste is soft, with polished tannins, salty, with a note of savour and fine acidity. Wine Stars reviewers gave it four stars and Wine of the Week title, costing 109.50 kunas in Miva.
Four stars also went to Tempranillo 2013 Las Escalerilas Crianza by the Finca Antigue winery from the Spanish region La Mancha. Harmonious and seductive wine costs a very friendly 40 kunas in Vrutak.
Hvar Plavac 2015 by Tomić won three stars (Roto Dinamic, 65.50 kunas), and also competing was the Rosé 2016 by the Kopjar winery from Novi Marof (Bornstein, 74 kunas).
