It will be the 40th Faros Marathon this year in Stari Grad. Big anniversary calls for big names and so according to Večernji List, the organizational committee granted a form of a wild card for the 74 year old Michael Read.
This, still active English long-distance swimmer, who has the second most crossing of the English Chanel (33 times) will come to Stari Grad to fulfil his dream of swimming the Faros Marathon – last swimming destination on his “to-swim-list”.
“It is one of the greatest living open-water swimmers in the world, known as the ´King of the English Chanel´, who was appointed Member of the British Empire for services to swimming in 2011.” says the general secretary of Faros Marathon Janes Maroević.

Together with Read, there will be 35 swimmers from 22 countries and 3 continents, among which the medal winner of the recent World Championship in Kazan.
