We are approaching the four-year anniversary since the start of Total Hvar. I had no idea then in which direction things would be heading, and if truth be told, I have even less idea now. One thing is for sure – it has been a lot of fun, and I have had some great experiences and met some incredible people.
if someone had told me back then that we would have a national news portal and had expanded to Munich, I would have laughed. Actually, I am laughing, a little more since last night when I took on my latest blogging client, whose niche is building roads in India. My specialist subject.
With the season coming to a close, it is time to take stock and admit that there are too many things going on, and that I can’t cover them all. Ever since I drunkenly wrote an article which got more than a million hits in 24 hours, things have been rather busy on the private blogging front, away from the Total websites, and the private workload is now becoming harder to manage while keeping up all my Total commitments. The fact that a blogging contract about building roads in India makes more net income than one of the Total websites gives pause for reflection…
I have been genuinely surprised and greatly encouraged by the interest in our latest venture, Total Croatia News. Like all total projects, it has been a lot of fun, and it seems to be mushrooming nicely. I am in Zagreb next week for various meetings with sponors (please get in touch if you would like to meet). I am also personally returning to Bavaria in less than a month, to spend the majority of the winter building up Total Munich, which unlike the Totals Hvar and Split, has backing and interest from the tourist board and investors.
So with Total Croatia News, Total Munich and those Indian roads, something has to give, and so I will be reducing my contribution on Totals Hvar and Split until March, when I will be back in Dalmatia with renewed vigour for a new season. I plan to write 3-4 articles a week to keep things ticking over, and anyone interested in blogging about Hvar and Split is welcome to submit pieces.
One of my winter projects, as I have already written, is to update the Hvar guidebook, which will be available online from March 1. If you have anything new to contribute, please submit it for consideration.
Finally, I would like to pay tribute to the sterling efforts of Ivana Zupan, who has been working with the Total Project for much of this year. A lot more organised that I will ever be, and with a keen eye for detail, Ivana’s work particularly on Total Hvar and Total Inland Dalmatia have been much appreciated by many, and I am grateful to her for all her efforts. If she ever needs a reference… Ivana has decided to pursue her own dreams, an exciting project that we fully support and we wish her well. She finished working with the Total Project this week, and it will be a poorer (and unhealthier) place without her. Good luck Ivana!
