September 15, 2023 – After the horrible floods that struck the country, the Red Cross appealed for help to the population by collecting donations for Libya in Croatia. All funds collected will be paid to the account of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent and the Libyan Red Crescent.
As Index writes, more than 5,300 people have been killed so far, and 10,000 people are considered missing in north-eastern Libya, which was ravaged by storm Daniel. Rescuers are still searching for the bodies of the dead, according to the press release of the Croatian Red Cross.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies points out that the situation is extremely difficult and that the number of dead is expected to increase. Volunteers of the Libyan Red Crescent have been on the ground from the first moment, evacuating people, providing first aid, and helping with search and rescue.
