November the 9th, 2023 – The contract for the construction of the Dugopolje solar power plant has now been signed. The plant will be the 12th and largest solar power plant in HEP’s growing portfolio.
As Novac/Jutarnji writes, HEP Proizvodnja (Manufacturing) and Končar Inženjering (Engineering) signed a contract this week for the design and construction of the Dugopolje Solar Power Plant, worth 11.1 million euros in total, as announced by HEP.
The installed power of the upcoming and much anticipated Dugopolje power plant will amount to 13.54 megawatts, and the connected power will be ten megawatts. The expected annual production of 17.2 million kilowatt hours will be enough to supply around 6,000 households. 24,624 photovoltaic modules will be installed on an area spanning approximately 200,000 square metres within the Dugopolje Municipality, which will be connected to 52 three-phase inverters.
The Dugopolje solar power plant will be the largest in HEP’s portfolio
“The Dugopolje solar power plant will become the twelfth and so far the largest solar power plant in our portfolio. With this contract, we’ve achieved continuity of our cooperation with Končar in the construction of solar power plants. This ranges from the Vis solar power plant, which also has a battery tank, then the Donja Dubrava solar power plant, which has been in regular operation, to the Črnkovci solar power plant in Slavonia, the construction of which is currently in progress. The future Dugopolje solar power plant is a good example of cooperation between local companies with the aim of strengthening the Croatian economy on the whole. We’re very glad that Croatian know-how and technologies remain competitive in today’s demanding energy market, where HEP is continuously making significant investments. Over the past five years, we’ve put production plants with total capacities of around 90 MW into operation,” said the president of the HEP Management Board, Frane Barbarić.
An eighteen month deadline
“Our focus on the green transition has existed since the time before the green transition even became a wider European focus. This has been very much in evidence through numerous projects we’ve carried out for the construction and revitalisation of hydroelectric power plants around the world. Furthermore, KONČAR made a technological breakthrough back in 2012 with the development of wind turbines and the construction of its own wind power plant, with with a total installed power of 20 MW. Since the first solar power plant, then the largest on the island of Vis, put into operation back in 2020, we’ve built four solar power plants with a total installed power of 30 MW for various partners. Currently, a fifth solar power plant is under construction in Slavonia , and with this latest contract for the Dugopolje solar power plant, we’ve further confirmed our role as a leading regional company in the field of construction. Not to mention the revitalisation of plants for the production of electricity from renewable sources”, emphasised Gordan Kolak, President of the KONČAR Management Board.
The contract for the design and construction of the Dugopolje solar power plant was signed at the Krka National Park, more specifically at the Jaruga Hydroelectric Power Plant location. This year, on December the 1st to be precise, the Jaruga HPP will mark an impressive 120 years of being in operation, which ranks it among the oldest active power plants in the entire world, according to HEP.
