February the 5th, 2024 – The tourist boards of Hvar island, together with the island’s tourism companies, participated in the New York Travel & Adventures Show from January the 27th to the 29th, 2024.
In addition to numerous visitors and travel agencies, the Hvar island stand was visited on the first day of the fair by Ambassador Pjer Šimunović, Consul General Nikica Kopačević, and many media representatives.
In cooperation with the Croatian Tourist Board, the Maslina Hotel, the company Sunčani Hvar and Valamar, the Tourist Boards of the Island of Hvar organized a business (B2B) presentation of the Island of Hvar in Delmonico’s restaurant on January 25, which attracted 80 travel agents and 25 tourism-oriented media (Conde Nast, Travel and Leisure, National Geographic, Forbes).
During the presentation, the ambassador and consul of the Republic of Croatia in the USA, the director of the HTZ representative office in the USA Leila Krešić Jurić, the mayor of Hvar Mr. Rikardo Novak and the mayor of Stari Grad Mr. Antonio Škarpa, as well as the owner of the Maslina Hotel, addressed the tourist agents and the media during the presentation.
The island was also presented through its flavors, and the renowned chefs Hrvoje Zirojević and Neno Mladenović designed a Dalmatian brunch as finger food snacks, thus showcasing the Mediterranean diet, one of Hvar’s six UNESCO protected cultural assets. In a raffle held during the presentation, the island’s hotel houses gave away 3 four-day stays on the island of Hvar to selected travel agents.
Having a presence at the fair and visibility on the American market is extremely important, since 42,943 American citizens visited the island of Hvar island in 2023, with 113,971 overnight stays. As evidenced by the large number of attendees at the B2B meeting and the interest of visitors to the Hvar island stand at the fair, the potential for further growth and business cooperation is enormous.
