February the 2st, 2024 – The very first Croatian rotating garage has been built in the popular and historic Istrian city of Pula.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, six former “normal” parking spaces can now accommodate an impressive thirty vehicles at the first Croatian rotating garage. The trial phase for for the general public is scheduled for this Thursday, and it’s entirely free. Parking at the first Croatian rotating garage will otherwise cost a single euro in winter and a mere 1.6 euros during summer.
The Pula Parking company, which manages Pula’s car parks, put the first Croatian rotating garage, which is also currently the only one in the country, into trial operation on Monday. At first, the locals were sceptical about the safety of their cars when being left there, but the company has assured that parking like this is practical and safe and also saves space, according to a report from HRT.
“These are three rotating garages, each one holds ten individual vehicles, where they take turns, entry is regulated by ramps where the car license plates are read, an application (app) is then used to park the vehicles inside and return them back after parking is complete,” explained Boris Agatić, an assistant director at Pula Parking.
The very first Croatian rotating garage is located at the end of Premanturska cesta, which is one of the main entrances to the City of Pula. The garage has been tested against violent winds which are common along the coastline in winter, and even against earthquakes. As if all this wasn’t impressive enough, this garage is an entirely Croatian product.
This is a completely Croatian project, the motors were even patented by Croats. It’s very interesting that it has only 9.2 kilowatts, its consumption is minimal, and we can even upgrade them to be charging stations for electric vehicles.
