March the 2nd, 2024 – Eurostat has noted how Croatian February inflation is the highest in the entire Eurozone, reaching 4.8 percent.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has published the first estimate of the consumer price index, according to which, in February 2024, the inflation rate stood at 4.1 percent compared to February 2023. Compared to January 2024, Croatian February inflation increased by 0.2.
As such, the months-long trend of slowing inflation at the annual level has been interrupted, given that in January 2024, domestic inflation at the annual level also amounted to 4.1 percent.
Looking at the main components of the index, the estimated annual inflation rate for the food, beverage and tobacco group stood at 5.5 percent, for services 6.4 percent, industrial non-food products without energy 2.5 percent, and for the same category with energy – 0.4 percent.
On a monthly basis, compared to January 2024, prices in the energy component increased by 1.5 percent, and services by 0.5 percent. At the same time, according to the first estimate, the prices of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.4 percent, and industrial non-food products without energy by 0.2 percent.
The CBS announced that it will publish the final data on the consumer price index in February according to the ECOICOP classification (European Classification of Individual Consumption according to Purpose) on March the 15th, 2024.
Eurostat: The Croatian February inflation rate was 4.8 percent, the highest in the entire eurozone
According to the first estimate published by Eurostat today, the annual Croatian February inflation rate measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) in Croatia stood at 4.8 percent, while on a monthly basis, compared to January 2024, it increased by 0.3 percent.
Also according to this data, the Croatian February inflation rate (annually) remained at the January level, when it also amounted to 4.8 percent. Across the entire Eurozone, the average annual inflation rate for February has been 2.6 percent, with Croatia recording the highest inflation rate of all those nations.
