March 16, 2023 – Congratulations to Ivo Usmiani of JGL Group, the 2023 EY Entrepreneur of the Year at last night’s gala dinner at Lauba in Zagreb, reports TPortal.
As part of the ninth Croatian edition of the global EY Entrepreneur of the Year program, Ivo Usmiani from JGL Group was declared the most successful Croatian entrepreneur for 2023, the organizers of the election announced.
According to the decision of an independent jury, Usmiani was chosen among 33 candidates from 28 domestic successful companies, i.e. between seven finalists and finalists from five companies.
Like his predecessors, the ninth Croatian EY Entrepreneur of the Year will represent Croatia at the world finals in Monaco in June.
In addition to the awarded Ivo Usmiani, this year’s finalists included: Ksenija and Ivan Mesarić from IM-COMP, Katica Hauptfeld from Katarina Line, Goran and Ivan Dell’Orco from Marikomerc and Jure Širić from Modepack.
“Being in this kind of company is a great honor. I see this award as a recognition of all our employees who have each woven a part of themselves in their own way. With their creativity, innovation, strength and passion, they give content to all our processes,” said Usmiani during last night’s winner announcement EY competitions.
Ivo Usmiani is the founder and owner of JGL Grupa, a Croatian pharmaceutical company founded in 1991 as the first private pharmaceutical joint-stock company in the country. The company operates in 60 markets around the world, and exports almost 85 percent of its production. It has close to 1,300 employees and produces over 300 products and 150 brands.
Minister of Finance Marko Primorac pointed out that the EY Entrepreneur of the Year program promotes success, innovation, creativity and dedicated work.
“Croatia has successfully passed through all the recent crises, and entrepreneurs have shown that they know how to do what their role is – to produce and employ, and the state has shown that it knows how to recognize a situation in which it should stand by entrepreneurs. Our entrepreneurs create added value, they are ready preserve a high level of employment and do everything that Croatia needs at that moment,” said Primorac.
