April the 26th, 2024 – More and more Croatian retail chains are seeking to employ solely those drawing a pension, and they’re not the only ones.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, back in 2019, pensioners were able to work part-time, 20 hours a week, while still receiving the full amount of their pension each month. The fact that there are more and more advertisements offering jobs exclusively to retirees speaks of the great need of many employers, particularly Croatian retail chains, for retirees, as reported by N1.
For example, one of the Croatian retail chains is currently looking for retired salespeople at a dozen locations across the City of Zagreb through advertisements. Another retail chain is also looking for retirees, motivating them with the following invitation: “If you like working with people, you’re a warm-hearted and hard-working person who wants to make the shopping experience of our customers pleasant and relaxed, then this position is for you.”
Two years ago, the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ/CES) launched a special website for the employment of pensioners as the laws altered to allow those who are legally retired to take up different forms of continued employment should they choose to. There are currently 703 jobs being offered to retirees on that page. Of these, the most jobs are for the positions of salespeople – 212, and cleaners – 137.
Specialised job posting portals such as MojPosao/MyJob or Posao.hr/Job.hr also have separate sections for jobs intended for retirees. Various companies aside from Croatian retail chains, including security companies, tend to advertise in prominent places on their websites that they are actively hiring retirees.
