May the 15th, 2024 – The Petrol Group (Grupa) is going to set up 40 ultra-fast EV charging points across the Republic of Croatia.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Josipa Ban writes, the brand new ultra-fast EV charging points will be installed at 15 TEN-T locations across Croatia. Eight of them will be intended for heavy-duty electric vehicles (HDV), Petrol announced. In addition to Croatia, the Slovenian energy company will set up 65 charging points (power 150 kW and 350 kW) at 20 key TEN-T locations in neighbouring Slovenia, 9 of which will have infrastructure for charging heavy electric vehicles.
The installation of these new ultra-fast EV charging points in Croatia will be realised as part of the European initiative called CROSS-E. The aim of that initiative is to install ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles along key transit routes and ports throughout Europe in order to ensure the infrastructure necessary to achieve ambitious European goals – a climate-neutral continent and the sale of exclusively electric vehicles from 2035.
For the implementation of the CROSS-E initiative in eight EU Member States, the European Commission selected a consortium of four companies consisting of the Petrol Group (Grupa), Allegro, GreenWay and Emobility Solutions. Through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the EU will co-finance this project in the amount of 34 million euros in grants, while their partners will invest an additional 130 million euros.
“We’re proud to have become a key partner in the CROSS-E project. Within the framework of that, among other things, we’re going to be setting up the first e-charging stations for trucks across Slovenia and Croatia. By expanding the network of charging stations within the Petrol Group, we’re improving the user experience and additionally positioning ourselves as a leading provider of sustainable mobility across the region,” said Marko Ninčević, a member of the Petrol Group Management Board responsible for mobility.
The project, which will establish the first corridors for electric freight vehicles, should be completed in October 2026.
