June the 5th, 2024 – Volim svoju županiju/I love my county is the name of the new Croatian county photo contest which aims to promote the beauty of each county nationwide.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, on June the 2nd, the Croatian Association of Counties opened a new round of the Croatian county photo contest, which aims to show everything Croatia’s geographically varied regions offer.
The Croatian county photo contest Volim svoju županiju/I love my county was launched by the Croatian Association of Counties with the aim of promoting the uniqueness each one boasts. Over the last eight years, almost 10,000 photographs were submitted – works by amateur and professional photographers alike, who took photos of the various old traditions and sights of their regions through their trusty lenses. The best photos are included in the travelling exhibition that represents 21 Croatian counties, and this year the jury is headed by photographer Damir Hoyka.
Exhibitions have been opened in most counties so far, and at the end of 2023 it also was in the European Committee of Regions in Brussels. At the end of the cycle, the exhibition set is donated to a certain institution. Last year’s best photos of this same Croatian county photo contest adorn the walls of the Zadar General Hospital.
This brand new round of the Croatian county photo contest is open from June the 2nd to the 16th, 2024, and authors can submit their photos in three categories:

The jury chooses a total of 21 photos (one from each county) that are part of the aforementioned main part of the exhibition. The award goes to the 1st place in that category, i.e. the photo that collected the most points from the jury.
drone photography
The jury chooses a total of three photos taken with a drone to be part of the exhibition. The award goes to the 1st place in the category, i.e. the photo that collected the most points from the jury.
croats outside of croatian borders
The jury chooses a total of three photos depicting Croatian counties, which were taken by authors who live outside Croatia. The award goes to the 1st place in the category, i.e. the photo that collected the most points from the jury.
After the selection of the best photos from the three categories, the audience will vote to choose the best photo from among the 27 chosen by the jury. The prize is won by the author of the photo with the highest number of votes.
The main prize is a GoPro Hero 12 digital sports camera, and authors can submit their photos here.
