October the 8th, 2024 – The Croatian Interior Ministry (MUP) is planning to set up more speed cameras, and a lot of them.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Croatian Interior Ministry is continuing to install the cases to house yet more new speed cameras. By the end of September, they had been installed across 57 new locations, and by the end of the year, there are plans to install them in another 27 locations, according to Autonet.
We’re talking about locations in the area of twelve different police administrations. Drivers in the area covered by Primorje-Gorski Kotar will have the most to keep an eye out for, because 20 new cameras have been installed or will be installed by the end of the year. In addition to Rijeka and its surrounding areas, one new camera is planned for the islands of Cres, Mali Lošinj, Rab, as well as two for the island of Krk.
Immediately nearby, in the area taken care of by the Istrian police, thirteen new camera cases have already been installed. It will also now be necessary for road users to pay much more attention when driving through Rovinj, Tar, Motovun, Buzet, Buje, Potpićan, Plomin, Lupoglav, Čepić polje, Vižinada, Cvitane and Cerovlje.
There are nine new locations each in the area of Sisak-Moslavina and Zadar, and eight each in Lika-Senj and Dubrovnik-Neretva County. One new speed camera has been placed in Makarska (more specifically along the D8 road) as well as much further east in Vukovar-Srijem. Koprivnica-Križevci and Krapina-Zagorje received two more speed cameras each. Four have been placed in the area of Požega-Slavonia, and seven new ones can be found in Šibenik-Knin.
The Croatian Interior Ministry plans to further curb traffic violations such as speeding, the use of mobile devices, driving without the use of a seat belt and more with the placing of more new cameras.
Croatia’s roads are flooded during the summer months with tourists from across the whole of Europe, making the need for further supervision along the country’s roadways more important than ever.
