October the 30th, 2024 – A massive 100 million euro Osijek investment in the form of the brand new Jabil plant in Nemetin is up for Croatian economic event of the year – and with very good reason.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/VL/Suzana Lepan-Stefancic writes, in finally opening the doors of an imposing production plant in Osijek’s Nemetin business zone, the American company Jabil realised the largest economic investment in the last three decades in the largest city of Slavonia.

an osijek investment bringing benefits to the entire region

The scale of this Osijek investment and the entire wider project provided enough arguments for placement in the shortlist of nominations for the economic event of the year. Jabil’s brand new facility spans an area of 47,938 square metres and boasts some absolutely state-of-the-art infrastructure.

This massive Osijek investment and new facility will supply key industries, including the automotive, transportation and healthcare sectors. It’s also all set to introduce advanced technological capabilities and create high-quality jobs throughout not only eastern Croatia but the region. It was erected in just 15 months, and was built by more than 1,000 workers from 140 different companies.

“This is more than a factory, this is the beginning of a journey full of possibilities. We’re creating new jobs. We are excited because owing to benefits such as relocation packages, the reimbursement of transportation costs and participation in international projects, we’ll attract talented individuals to the Osijek facility,” said Victor Manuel Morales, regional director of business development.

Fred McCoy, Jabil’s executive vice president in charge of global business, added that Jabil produces everything from coffee machines to life-saving medical devices, as well as automotive technology.

“We are the brand behind some of the world’s biggest brands. Our new Osijek plant symbolises the next chapter in the field of new opportunities, innovation and cooperation in complex and important growing markets. We’re delighted to combine the global expertise of Jabil with Osijek’s potential.”

The plant has boosted employment in an otherwise chronically struggling part of the country. Prime Minister Plenković also openly stated that the new Jabil Osijek plant will be a strong link in Croatian-American relations.
