Plitvice Lakes Family Week a big success.
The recently held Family Week at Plitvice Lakes National Park brought large crowds and queues at entrances and docks on the Kozjak lake. The Plitvice Lakes were visited by crowds of people who decided to use beautiful sunny days and enjoy the autumn colours of the leaves. During the Family Week, ticket prices for families were 25 kuna per person. The record day during the week attracted as many as 10,000 visitors, reports Lika Online on November 1, 2015.
“We have good weather, so many families have decided to take advantage of this beautiful day for a tour of the Plitvice Lakes. By the end of summer, we already knew this would be a record year. Last year, we had 1,184,449 visitors, and this year we have already had about 1,280,000 guests. So, the record has already been broken, and the guests kept arriving. Just this morning, we have welcomed ten groups of tourists from the Far East. Due to the size of the national park, it is hard to believe that we have so many visitors. Visitors are in electric boats, in tourist trains, walking on numerous trails, along the lake shores… You might think there are not so many people here, but visitors are literally everywhere”, Ognjen Borčić, spokesman for the Plitvice Lakes National Park, said about the Family Week, which has been organized for the third year in a row.
In addition to lower prices for families, children under 7 years of age have free entrance to the national park. Visitors can enjoy not only beautiful visual experience, but can also have a nice meal in restaurants located in the park. In the self-service part of restaurants Poljana and Borje, and in the self-service part of restaurants at the Grabovac hotel and Korana camp, menus are offered at a price of 45 kuna per person.
During the Family Week, on Saturday and Sunday performances by cultural societies were also organized, presenting the traditions of Lika and cultural heritage of the Plitvice area. In this way, one the main goals of all those who have worked in Croatia’s most beautiful national park has been fulfilled: the park attracts visitors in all seasons and is certainly worth a visit outside the peak summer tourist season as well. One other piece of good news is that the national park is being frequently visited by Croatians as well, in addition to numerous foreign tourists.
