June the 21st, 2026 – Over 100,000 passengers are expected to be recorded at both Split Airport and ferry port this weekend, as additional ferries have been put into service. The season is well and truly here!

Split is preparing for another major summer travel surge, with Morski reporting that more than 100,000 passengers are expected to be recorded through the city’s airport and ferry port. Increased air traffic and strong demand for island connections have prompted additional ferry services to help handle the increasing crowds.

At Split Airport, a busy weekend is expected with thousands of arrivals and departures scheduled throughout, reflecting the strong growth of tourism across the region. The airport continues to connect Split with dozens of international destinations during the peak season.

Traffic is also increasing in Port of Split itself, where tens of thousands of passengers are expected to travel to and from Croatia’s islands. Jadrolinija has added extra departures, including additional services toward Supetar, to ease congestion during the busiest travel period.

Jadrolinija have stated that popular island routes toward destinations such as Hvar, Vis, Vela Luka and Lastovo are seeing exceptionally strong demand.

Passengers are therefore continually being advised to arrive earlier than usual due to queues and intense heat, especially in the case of vehicle ferries.
