Slaven Belupo trashed the favorites from Rijeka 3-0, getting to Cup finals for the second time in history
Slaven Belupo and Rijeka played the second semi-final match in Koprivnica on April 5, 2016, and, even though Rijeka had a huge first game advantage, Slaven Belupo turned the result in their favour and went trough to the finals with the 3-0 win.
Home supporters hoped for a win, but even the most optimistic ones did not expect their team to win by this margin. Rijeka was a firm favorite, but as football can be unpredictable, an upset happened as Slaven Belupo was the much better team and clinched a well-deserved win. Muzafer Ejupi, Filip Ozobić, and Nikola Pokrivač were the scorers.
This has been a miserable few days for Rijeka in Koprivnica, as they lost the pace with Dinamo in the league after the draw on Saturday, and today they lost the chance of getting another trophy they were hoping for. Matjaž Kek, Rijeka’s coach, announced big changes after this disappointment, it seems like his position on the bench is not safe anymore.
Slaven Belupo waits for the opponent in the finals to be decided tomorrow between Dinamo and Hajduk.
