An unusual event took place last night at the Museum of Sinj Alka, informs Ferata.hr. In fact, it was the first time, the museum was a part of this Croatian cultural event – Night of Museums. There were already several hundreds of people waiting in front of the museum, even before Damir Župić marked the beginning of this truly beautiful story of Sinj with the sounds of a trumpet.
When a cultural institution gets 3500 visits in one evening, it is something special.
Along with the staff of the museum and the members of the Alka Knights Society, there where Alkars dressed in colorful uniforms and members of the Sinj Folk Theatre dressed in uniforms from the 18th century, who helped in guiding the visitors through the exhibition. Visitors were able to enjoy a documentary about Alka, a tour through the museum, a performance of Klapa Sinj, some good Alka wine and fritule.
The interest for touring the museum was so big, that the doors of the museum had to close several times during the night, because it would be impossible to fit in all interested people at once.
In the full projection hall of the museum´s permanent exhibition, its author Nikolina Jelović Mitrović gave a lecture about “How the Museum of Sinj Alka was Created”. In addition to the people from Sinj and Cetina area, there were hundreds of people from other parts of Dalmatia interested in visiting the museum, especially from Split and Dubrovnik.
