Zagreb now has “snap postcards”.
For those who still are not familiar with the Snapchat magic, it is a social network that has managed to win over young users in a very short time, reports Poslovni.hr on April 15, 2016.
However, an increasing number of older Croatian users is getting on board as well. Besides its other unique features, such as the content disappearance after the post has been opened or within 24 hours from the moment it has been published, there is also a geo-filter which acts like “a branded postcard” – photos within Snapchat can be visually marked with the addition of geofilter which includes a designed illustration and the user’s current location.
Therefore, geo-filter can have an illustrated design of the name of a city or a detail that distinguishes that city or an area from other locations. The use of the filter makes that area more recognizable globally.
While the world has eagerly embraced this new digital trend and the global metropolises already have several geo-filters indicating their identity, locations within cities, neighborhoods, and even events, in Croatia geo-filters are still available only for cities only and are just now starting to find their way to users’ photos/posts.
In order for Zagreb not to lag behind the rest of the world, the creative team Bamboo Lab from Osijek has created the first Snapchat Zagreb geo-filter and thus enriched the available promotional features for the Croatian capital. So, from now on, all Snapchat users who happen to be in Zagreb or already living in it will have the option to label their photos with Zagreb geo-filter and to publish and promote the beauties of Zagreb, a European city ideal for comfortable life, but also an important tourist centre.
Geo-filters are already being called “visual hashtags” and photos marked with them are considered to be branded postcards. And what is better than a postcard that travels around the world in just a few seconds?!
