One of the most fun days of the year on Tuesday, as Hvar Town celebrates St. Proper. At one time I think this was seen as the unofficial opening of the season, but with tourists arriving earlier each year, St. Prosper would have to change his day to qualify.
Is is a really nice event, with plenty happening all day for all the family. There is a full programme on the main square from 10:00, and then the main gastro event in the evening on the romantic San Marco terrace in front of Hotel Palace, where Hvar’s restaurateurs compete for bragging rights as the best restaurant ahead of the main season. Entrance is 70 kuna, well worth it for what is always a high quality event. Organisers are the Town of Hvar, Hvar Town Tourist Board, Suncani Hvar Hotels (hosts) and the Hvar Restaurant Association.
