Fresh from their viral Eurovision Song timelapse video hit, Romulic and Stojcic release their latest masterpiece on May 11, 2016. Meet the Istrian truffle heartland in the clouds – Motovun.
With more than a million views on the official version of Nina Kraljic’s Eurovision song ‘Lighthouse’ with their ‘Hvar in the Storm’ timelapse, Osijek maestros Mario Romulic and Drazen Stojcic are back with their latest stunning timelapse piece from their native Croatia, this time in the truffle heartland in the Istrian hilltop town of Motovun. In their own words:
Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Mirna river valley, the Croatian medieval town of Motovun is an unmistakeable symbol of Istrian interior. This incredibly picturesque town looks as if it was plucked straight out of ancient history. Motovun’s charming narrow streets, historical buildings and romantic views go hand in hand with excellent local wines and cusine – Motovun Forest that surrounds the hilltop is rich in truffles and nearby hillsides are sprinkled with wineyards.
Croatian photographers Mario Romulic & Drazen Stojcic spent years trying to capture the elusive spring fogs that rise from the Mirna valley only when the weather conditions are just right. So, after many unsucessful trips all it took was a single day to capture the morning fogs sweeping around the Motovun hilltop. They were lucky too; the magical fog lasted only a few hours – just enough for Romulic & Stojcic to film the effect in stunning timelapse technique. Teamed up with editor Goran Markovanovic and music composer and pianist Matej Mestrovic, Romulic & Stojcic created a short film appropriately named “Misty Motovun”.
