Latest national poll shows that majority of voters are pessimistic about government’s policies and direction of the country.
Nova TV announced on Wednesday evening the results of its latest national Crobarometar poll, reports dnevnik.hr on May 26, 2016.
If elections were held today, SDP would receive 29.1 percent (28.6 in April), while HDZ would get 28.7 percent (29.0 in April). Even though SDP is now ahead of HDZ, the difference between the two parties is too small to be statistically significant.
MOST now has the support of 7.9 percent of voters (6.9 percent in April) and is slightly ahead of Živi Zid which would get 7.8 percent (6.8 in April). The four largest parties are followed by BM 365 (4.3 percent), HNS (1.5 percent), HSS (1.4 percent), IDS (1.4 percent), BUZ (1.1 percent), and HSU (1.0 percent).
There has been a marked return of pessimism among voters. As much as 73 percent of citizens think that the country is going in the wrong direction (64 percent in April), while only 19 percent (28 percent in April) think that the country is headed in the right direction. For comparison, in January just 48 percent of voters thought that the country was going in the wrong direction.
Currently, 56 percent of citizens do not approve of government policies (42 percent in April), which are supported by 32 percent of voters (47 percent in April). In the last month, there has been a decline of those who support government’s policies, and an increase in the number of those who oppose them.
In May, Croatia was quite literally divided over the issue of whether Prime Minister Orešković’s government would survive, with 47 percent of citizens believing that the government will survive (58 percent in April), and 46 percent thinking it will fall (36 percent in April).
