Procedures Finished, Construction of new Bridge Across Sava River to Begin Soon

The bridge will be part of a new highway connecting Eastern Slavonia more directly with the Croatian south, through Bosnia&Herzegovina

The construction of a new highway bridge across the Sava river, a new connection between Croatia and Bosnia&Herzegovina (BiH) and an integral part of European V c corridor, can now begin, confirmed the secretary of the Transport and Communications Ministry of BiH Igor Pejić, as reported by HINA.

Pejić told the Dnevni Avaz newspaper that the state commission for control of public procurement of Croatia issued a decision denying all complaints on the selection of contractors. “This decision is final, there are no more appeals. This enables us after seven years to very quickly begin building this large project,” Pejić said.

The BiH partners handed over to Croatia three days ago all necessary missing documentation, namely additional ecological licenses necessary according to EU standards. Based on those documents a construction permit will be adapted.

“On Monday we expect an answer from Croatia so we can get the contractor working,” Pejić added.

The works will be undertaken by the construction consortium Viadukt-Hering which had the best offer at an international tender with a price of 26.9 million Euro. It was actually a third tender of this kind, while the first two were voided, where Strabag and Viadukt were the winners.

The bridge will be built from the Sredanci village in Croatia to Odžak in BiH and will be 660 metres long, while construction is predicted to be finished in two years.
