The story begins with open doors day at the Pavlomir winery, while in Vrbnik all local winemakers will open doors to their cellars
This weekend in Vrbnik on Krk island the manifestation “Popi’ i pojedi” starts – an event that grew without a doubt into a recognisable eno-gastronomical gathering. The first of the summer’s planned events under that title will be the traditional Žlahtina sort festival, Novi List reported on June 30, 2016.
It all begins on Friday, but not in Vrbnik but in Novi Vinodolski with the open doors of the Pavlomir winery, while the festival moves to Vrbnik the next day where all local winemakers will open their cellar doors. The opportunity to taste and enjoy Vrbnik wines will be available from 17 to 21h – the period in which wines for tasting will be offered in PZ Vrbnik, Ivan Katunar House of Wines as well as the cellars of the Agricultural Cooperative Gospoja-Toljanić, wineries Šipun, Nada and Petar Čubranić and sons.
An especially interesting part of the upcoming programme will take place on Sunday. That day a Razgon will take place in Vrbnik, a traditional shepherd feast where, for the first time, in the very centre of the place and Krk sheep exhibition will be held. This new programme holds the exhibition and judging of displayed sheep presented on the main square by local shepherds.
Beginning at 19h, a special attraction of the Vrbnik shepherd feast will be the shearing competition. After the formal part of the programme, an award ceremony will take place for the best Krk sheep herders. Accompanying the manifestation will be wool felting workshops by the Cres island association Ruta.
