This is the second such tanker built in the shipyard for the maritime company Trogir Maritime, with the first one launched last year
A tanker worth 45 million USD and meant for the transport of chemical and oil products, built by the Brodotrogir shipyard for its own maritime company Trogir Maritime, was launched on Saturday in the Trogir shipyard, Poslovni Dnevnik reported on July 2, 2016. The tanker is 284 metres long, 32 metres wide and has a 49,500 tonne capacity.
Brodotrogir Management member and shipyard owner Danko Končar stated that the tankers are rented to shipping companies for a daily fee between 7,500 and 9,500 USD.
“Today is a great day for our shipyard and Trogir as we launch this tanker,” Končar said. He noted his satisfaction by what has been achieved in the last three years in Brodotrogir, the period of his ownership, which is under restructuring.
“The main future activities besides shipbuilding are ship renovation and the development of our marina,” Končar said.
Media information regarding the launch state that Brodotrogir currently has orders amounting to 200 million USD. Brodotrogir’s plans for new orders are focused on signing a contract for the building of a specialised tanker for ice navigation whose keel will be laid in December of this year, followed by equipping a tanker of 45,000 tonne capacity. Brodotrogir has also signed an agreement for the construction of four tankers with shallow draft for transport of chemical products and navigation in the North Sea and Baltic, the materials state.
Deputy Economy Minister Ivan Sertić, present at the ceremony, pointed out this launch is an indicator that the restructuring of Brodotrogir is going as planned. “This is a successful story and Brodotrogir will continue to have the support of the Economy Ministry and Croatian government,” Sertić said.
Mayor of Trogir Ante Stipičić mentioned how Brodotrogir is at full capacity for several years, which is extremely important for the economy of the Trogir area.
