Culture Minister Hasanbegović: HDZ Should Cooperate with MOST and HSP AS

Unsurprisingly, the Culture Minister advocates for continued cooperation of HDZ with right-wing party HSP AS.

The Minister of Culture and member of HDZ presidency Zlatko Hasanbegović said on Sunday in Dubrovnik that he was a great advocate of long-term cooperation with MOST, and added that HDZ should continue its coalition with right-wing party HSP AS, adding that his party should not allow the media to create its policies, reports HRT on July 10, 2016.

Responding to journalists’ questions on whether a coalition between HDZ and MOST was a possibility, Hasanbegović responded that he himself was an advocate for such a solution. “The coalition is possible, it would be a strategic coalition and it is the only possible coalition. Everyone knows that I as a minister collaborated well with our colleagues from MOST. I am generally a major advocate of a coalition between HDZ and MOST, not as a temporary solution, but as a long-term strategic political partnership between the two parties in future years”, he noted.

Asked whether HDZ should continue its coalition with HSP AS and whether he believed that the party was bringing more harm than benefits to HDZ, Minister Hasanbegović stated that he saw no reason why HSP AS would not remain in political alliance with HDZ.

“There is no reason why HSP AS would not continue with HDZ. It is a party that has been a loyal partner in the Patriotic Coalition and I see no reason, especially due to its ideological dimensions, not to remain in a kind of political alliance with HDZ. In what way and in which parliamentary constituencies, that is something which has yet to be agreed upon. This party has brought benefit to HDZ, it covers an electorate which is closely related. In its policies, HDZ must be geared towards its electorate and not allow any media or any political lobbies which are in no way connected with HDZ to create its party policies”, the Minister concluded.
