The project envisions a four star hotel worth 418 million Kuna and a 4,00 square feet wellness oasis
The project of a future luxury resort owned by Czech investors in the Rijeka Kostabela area is a prime example of how slow the state is, even when it doesn’t intend to be, Jutarnji List reported on July 19, 2016.
This investment by the Czech investor JTH Group in a hotel with four stars and villas worth 418 million Kuna has been finally listed as a strategic investment project, but while the investors waited to the project to be declared strategic and ease the realisation of investment, they arrived to the brink of clinching a loan, so the strategic positioning will come more as an honour and less as aid in removing bureaucratic obstacles.
The story is good for the investor, but bad for the state, which created the Strategic Investment Projects law with one goal: to list state and private investments of crucial importance that will have permits expedited.
“It is correct, while we waited for the strategic listing, we came to a high phase of realisation and we expect to have the investment loan this fall. However, we welcome the strategic position as such a project is unique in the Adriatic and will bring a completely new level of services and content. Besides, the state already aided us in forming an operative group that helped us with realisation although we already had 85% of documentation and did not need help with construction of other permits,” said Borjan Brnčić, director of JTH Costabella company, owned by Czech investor Jaroslav Tresnak. Construction will begin at the end of this year or beginning of next.
Investors are especially proud of an outside complex of pools and wellness that will span 4.000 square metres, as well as an outdoor heated pool available year-round. This investment was once eyed by Goran Štrok, but without success.
