From 7 to 11.30 am, 18.9 percent of voters came to the polling stations.
At noon, the State Election Commission announced the first turnout data for today’s early parliamentary elections. From 7 am, when the polling stations opened, until 11.30 am, 18.9 percent of voters voted, which is about 3 percent lower turnout than last year.
The highest turnout was recorded in first constituency (20.7 percent), followed by seventh and tenth constituency. The lowest turnout was recorded in fifth constituency (16.2 percent).
During the morning, many political leaders voted at their local precincts.
First was Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić, who was accompanied by his wife. “I feel just like I feel every day. The best feeling will be on Monday morning at 6 am, when I will lay the foundation stone for 600 apartments at Podbrežje”, said Bandić. “I expect that people will go to the polls in large numbers and for the first time in 26 years vote for real change.”
Živi Zid leader Ivan Vilibor Sinčić voted around 8 am at a polling station in Karlovac. “It is a beautiful day and I expect a high voter turnout, around 60 percent. I also expect a great result for our coalition”, said Sinčić.
HDZ president Andrej Plenković voted around 9 am at a polling station in Zagreb.
President of IDS (Istrian Democratic Assembly) Boris Miletić voted in Pula at 10.30.
HNS president Ivan Vrdoljak voted at a polling station in Osijek. He said that the turnout should be at least equal or better than the last year, and added that he expected that a stable government would be formed.
Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković voted at a polling station in the centre of Zagreb. He said that he would watch the election results tonight on television and see what kind of scenarios could occur. He added that he hoped the new government would be more stable and stay longer in power than his.
SDP president Zoran Milanović voted at a polling station in Zagreb.
President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović also voted in Zagreb and called on everybody to vote.
