Dubrovnik to Dublin Year-Round Flights Announced with Aer Lingus

A great new addition to winter tourism options to Dubrovnik, as ExYuAviation reports on September 20, 2016 on 12-month flights from Dublin to Dubrovnik with Aer Lingus.

These are good times for the airports of Dalmatia, which are enjoying a record season. Split Airport recording more than half a million passengers in July alone, and while the summer traffic is the airport story of the year, whisper it quietly, but there is a little extra good news for travellers out of the peak and shoulder seasons.

With its new airport terminal almost complete, Dubrovnik will meet the needs of this extra capacity, and the airport will be a lot busier out of season as well. Dubrovnik Mayor Andro Vlahusic announced 14 new winter routes earlier this year, Aer Lingus will extend its current seasonal service from Dublin to Dubrovnik into a 12-month affair, with three flights a week over the winter months, the first year-round connection offered by the Irish carrier.

And 12-month Irish airline interest in Dubrovnik does not stop there. As previously reported by TCN, budget airline Ryanair is in advanced negotiations with the city authorities to offer a similar service from as yet unnamed destinations, as well as looking at offering internal flights within Croatia itself.

While this announcement is excellent news for tourists from Ireland, there is also bound to be a sizable amount of passenger activity in the opposite direction. Ireland has become a new diaspora hotspot for young Croatians looking to emigrate. The only English-language speaking EU country not to impose employment restrictions on Croatian workers when the Adriatic country joined the EU in 2013, many young Croats headed to cities like Dublin and Cork, and an estimated 10,000 Croatians are now living and working in Ireland, many of whom are sure to take advantage of this convenient new service.
