In case Ćorić is unable to play he might be replaced by Ivo Karlović
A day after news of potential knee surgery for Croatian tennis player Borna Ćorić, which will likely see him missing the finals of the Davis Cup versus Argentina, Ćorić made a statement via his Facebook account, Jutarnji List reported on September 23, 2016.
“Dear all, next week in Zagreb I will need to have surgery on my right knee. I hope the operation will be successful and that I will join the team in the finals of Davis Cup near the end of November. Thank you for the support, you cannot imagine how much it means to me,” messaged Ćorić.
A somewhat differently toned message appeared on his Instagram account: “I am psychologically preparing for the operation in beautiful Zadar and am hoping to have more of a chance to play in the finals than has been written.”
To recount, Davis Cup finals are scheduled for November 25-27 in Zadar, while the Croatian Davis Cup team still hopes Ćorić may be able to play. Selector Željko Krajan also announced than in case Ćorić is unable to play he might be replaced by Ivo Karlović. But talks of his possible return to the national team are just beginning.
