Zagreb January 3, 2017 – Uber has prepared a series of stats showing how people used Uber in Zagreb and on the Coast during one of the busiest and most stressful nights of the year at Uber: the New Year’s eve.
3 minutes – the average waiting time for an Uber trip
Croatian users waited for their ride, in average, around 3 minutes. Users is Zagreb had to wait slightly longer (3.1 minutes) than the ones on the Coast (2.9 minutes).
7 is the biggest number of rides taken by an Uber user during NYE
The rider who took the highest number of trips was from Zagreb. Darko Kontin, used Uber a total of six times during the night to get around from party to party.
“We started the night at a friends house, but as the night got closer to midnight we wanted to get to Jarun lake and go clubbing. We used Uber because from the start of the night it proved to be reliable and available when we needed a ride the most. We managed to get it in less than five minutes each time. We used the app several more times throughout the night” said Darko
On the Coast, the biggest party hopper took 4 rides within a few hours.
34 trips – the highest number of rides offered by an Uber partner
On the 31st of December, Zoran Šlosar turned on his driver app and began his night around 19pm. He made no concrete plans about how long he would work or how many trips he would complete. By the end of his night he had completed a total of 34 trips – more than any partner-driver in Croatia on New Year’s eve.
“My wife had to work a shift that night. She works as a caterer in a hotel so it made sense for me to work as well. I had no expectations, I just sat in the car and turned on the app. The rides came one after another and before I knew it, it was three o’clock in the morning. I only realised how many trips I made that evening the next day” said Zoran and added that his night passed with no incidents and that he would definitely drive again on New Year’s eve. He began his night in the suburbs of Zagreb and by the end of the night made several trips around Zagreb.
High demand triggered dynamic pricing: 4 out of 10 trips were taken with the regular tariff
During periods with exceptionally high demand, fares on Uber increase in real time to make sure users can find a ride, even at a higher cost. For the trips with dynamic price, the average multiplier was not higher than 3 in Zagreb and 2 on the Coast. The hour with highest demand was 9 pm.
Croatians are not big “sharers”
Only 32 users shared the cost of the ride with other riders in the car, via the Split fare option from the Uber app.
A total of 61 riders arrived to their destinations with just minutes before midnight. Additionally, around 50 Uber users sent family and friends exactly where they were on the map and how long they would need to get to their destinations using the Uber “share ETA” feature.
