Croatia is in the midst of a very cold spell, with the famous bura wind howling away on the Adriatic, both of which are causing disruption to traffic. Here is the latest official advice on where the problems, closures and cancelled services are on January 6, 2017 – from the Croatian Automobile Association.
TRAFFIC FLOW AND ROAD CONDITIONS

All traffic is suspended:
on the A1 motorway between Sveti Rok and Posedarje junctions (detour for passenger vehicles and buses: DC50/DC27 state roads through Gračac, Obrovac and Karin),
on the DC1 Gračac-Knin state road (detour: Kistanje),
at Dubrovnik bridge,
at Pag bridge,
on the part of the DC8 Adriatic road Karlobag-Sveta Marija Magdalena,
on the DC54 Maslenica-Zaton Obrovački and DC218 Dobroselo-Mazin-Bruvno state roads,
on the ŽC5203 Brotnja-Srb-Sučević regional road.
Only passenger traffic is allowed on the A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorway from Kikovica to Delnice in both directions (detour: DC3 state road).
On the DC1 Solin-Klis highway and the section of the DC8 Adriatic road Bakar-Karlobag there is a traffic ban on: doubledeckers, trailers and motorcycles.
Wind is blowing also on the A1 motorway from Mala Kapela tunnel to Perušić junction as well as between Zadar 2 and Karamatići junctions and on Rijeka detour road at Rječina bridge.
The roads are wet and very slippery throughout the country, especially bridges and viaducts due to low temperatures.
Due to winter driving conditions there is a traffic ban on freight vehicles with trailers and all other vehicles have to use the winter equipment on the following roads of Lika mountain area and in Zadar county:
DC1 Vaganac-Udbina,
DC25 Korenica-Gospić-Karlobag,
DC27 Gračac-Zaton Obrovački,
DC42 at Poljanak,
DC50 Gračac (D27), Žuta Lokva-Špilnik-Lički Osik-Gospić-Štikada,
DC52 Špilnik-Korenica,
DC217 Ličko Petrovo Selo-Ličko Petrovo Selo border crossing,
DC429 Selište Drežničko-Prijeboj,
DC522 Udbina-Gornja Ploča,
ŽC5169 Bjelopolje-Donji Lapac,
ŽC5199 Šušanj-Štirovača,
all regional and local roads in Lika/Senj county.
Drivers are invited to keep distance, to adjust the speed to road conditions and not to start the journey without the winter equipment. The headlights have to be on during the day as well.
During the day difficulties can be expected in roadwork areas.
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway after Jankomir junction towards Zaprešić paytoll (3rd-4th km) one lane is free only due to roadworks.
Due to roadworks traffic is regulated by traffic signals/one road lane is free only:
on the DC1 state road at Tušilović;
on the DC1 Sinj-Klis Grlo state road at Dicmo;
on the DC8 Adriatic road on the section Kaštel Stari-Kaštel Gomilica;
on the DC66 state road at Plomin and on the section Labin-Vozilići;
on the DC75 Poreč detour road, section Vrvari-Bijela;
on the DC303 Rovinjsko Selo-Brajkovići-Kurili state road.
15 November 2016-15 April 2017 winter equipment is mandatory on the winter sections of the state roads in Croatia (it includes four winter tyres or four summer tyres with chains ready for use).
FERRY TRAFFIC

The following ferries, catamarans and boats do not operate:
Mali Lošinj-Rijeka, Novalja-Rab-Rijeka, Zadar-Rivanj-Sestrunj-Zverinac-Božava-Brbinj, Zadar-Silba-Olib-Premuda, Split-Hvar-Vela Luka-Ubli, Split-Hvar-Korčula, Split-Bol-Jelsa and Vis-Split catamarans;
Stinica-Mišnjak, Prizna-Žigljen, Lopar-Valbiska, Vis-Split, Drvenik Veli-Drvenik Mali-Seget Donji-Trogir, Split-Rogač, Sumartin-Makarska, Drvenik-Sućuraj and Šibenik-Kaprije-Žirje ferries;
Zadar-Preko, Mali Lošinj-Susak-Unije and Dubrovnik-Koločep-Lopud-Suđurađ boats.
