Pula Airport Diversification Continues: Transavia from Rotterdam

After a heavy dependence on the Russian market before EU entry, Pula Airport’s impressive diversification continues, with Transavia the latest airline to announce a new route, reports Avioradar on February 7, 2017.

Prior to EU entry in 2013, Russian passengers accounted for 40% of passenger traffic to Pula. EU visa requirements for Russians decimated that traffic after entry on July 1, 2013, but the airport’s management has been quietly working to rebuild passenger numbers, with considerable success. 

While work on airport terminals in Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb, and record passenger numbers on the Dalmatian coast have caught the headlines, Pula has welcomed a number of new airlines and new routes, predominantly from Western Europe and Scandinavia. 

The latest announcement sees Transavia introducing a new route from Rotterdam for the summer 2017 season. Flights will commence twice a week from July 8 until October 2, and this is the first time the two cities have been connected.
