Looking to cool off in Slavonia? A rather large swimming pool is coming your way…
Unprecedented high temperatures this summer in Slavonia were not an obstacle for more than 100 construction workers who are currently working in Bizovac on one of the largest construction sites in Croatia, according to a report in Glas Slavonije on July 29, 2015. The investment, which is worth about 120 million kuna, consists of the construction of the largest swimming pool in Croatia, building a new medical spa and preparations for the upcoming reconstruction of Termia Hotel.
Managing director of Sunčane Toplice Ivica Baković said that, starting in early August, guests from Slavonia and Baranja will be able to cool off in the newly built swimming pool with waves. “The construction of the pool, with its more than 2000 square meters it will be the largest in Croatia, is only the first of three phases of the investment cycle. The pool costs about 10 million dollars. The special attraction will be artificial waves that will be produced by using special generators brought from Scotland. The waves will reach about a meter in height. These waves will be a feature that will surely impress the visitors. Also, the water will be heated during the colder parts of the year, so the pool will be opened until November and welcome thousands of guests a day.” He added that this phase will be followed by the construction of several smaller pools with special water features.
In parallel with the swimming pool, a new spa sanatorium building with 60 rooms is being constructed as well. It will allow patients to use the benefits of Bizovac thermal waters for their recovery. The new facility will have 120 beds, with several suites and double rooms. In October 2015, reconstruction of the Termia Hotel will start. In this huge project, the owners will invest between 40 and 50 million kuna, and the entire construction is planned to be completed by the beginning of 2016. The project will double the number of workers from the current 60 to 120 employees, and the priority in employment will be given to candidates from the areas of Bizovac and Valpovo who meet the necessary professional requirements.
