The eighth edition of the tournament takes place in Zagreb June 22 – 25
Sirius Open, part of the UNIQLQ Wheelchair Tennis Tour, is the oldest international tournament for people with disabilities in Croatia. Its eight edition will be held in Zagreb June 22 – June 25 and it will host more than 40 wheelchair tennis players from all over the world, including Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands and Romania.
The tournament has changed names over the years (Sirius Open 2016, Sirius Open 2015, Rezidencija Open 2014, Arcotel-Rezidencija Open 2013, Arcotel-Rezidencija Open 2012, Arcotel-Rezidencija Open 2011 and Croatia Open 2010), but the mission has stayed the same: promoting wheelchair tennis in Croatia and encouraging people with disabilities to start playing sports. The players choose a star of the tournament, who gets a free application for Sirius Open 2018.

Wheelchair tennis became popular in 1976 when Brad Parks founded a competitive version of the sport, previously only played recreationally. It became popular when it was demonstrated at the Seoul 1988 Summer Paralympics and then in Barcelona 1992 Summer Paralympics it acquired the status of a full-fledged competition. It has been played in Croatia since 1993 and the first Croatia Open international tournament was held in Pula.
Goran Ivanišević and Borna Ćorić have both expressed their support for the tournament, so stop by the National Tennis Centre at Zagreb Fair (Joszefa Antalla bb) and show your support too!
