The first flight from London Heathrow to Istria landed at Pula Airport around 8:30 PM on July 1.
Earlier this week, Pula Airport announced the new line London Heathrow – Pula that will operate from July 1 to September 30, 2017 on Tuesdays and Saturdays, reports Lokalni.
Director of Pula Airport Svemir Radmilo stated they are hoping for the summer period to be an excellent start of a long friendship. “British Airways will fly to Pula with their Airbus 319 that have the maximum capacity of 143 passengers”, said Radmilo.
The airline giant already offers flights to multiple destinations in Croatia: British Airways has lines connecting Heathrow with Zagreb and Split, while their flights to Dubrovnik take off from London Gatwick.
This will be the sixth airline to connect London and Pula, along with Easyjet, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Thomson Airways, Ryanair and Jet2.com. Unlike all the others listed, British Airways is the first to connect Pula Airport with London Heathrow, the busiest airport in Europe whose annual traffic amounts to 75 million passengers.
“Visitors from Great Britain make up 31% of the total passenger traffic at Pula Airport – the biggest share of our market – with a 20% annual increase in the number of arrivals. Starting from this season, we’re connected with the entire so-called Great European Four: London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam”, Radmilo stated.
