The Mimara Museum is celebrating its 30th birthday on July 17
An exhibition dedicated to Mimara Museum’s 30 years is an homage to its donor, Ante Topić Mimara, his noble life goal, and all the accomplishments that have marked the museum’s three decades that have undoubtedly confirmed the donor’s vision for it. The museum’s collection and its various activities have made it one of the most prominent scientific and educational centres in the city, and it has played an important role in putting Zagreb and Croatia on the map of cultural centres around the world. The Museum is a central element of the City’s life and it strengthens the European and global significance of the country.
The main part of the exhibition is composed of 75 art pieces which confirm the Museum’s value and significance. Archive materials, printed materials, photographs, and an extensive bilingual catalogue that accompanies the exhibition offer an insight into its activities, confirming its value and the nobility of the founding donor’s vision that has been demonstrated throughout the three decades since the Museum opened.
“The Museum of Art Collection of Ante and Wiltrud Topić Mimara – Mimara Museum was opened on July 17, 1987, at 5 Roosevelt Square in Zagreb. The collection is composed of art collection that Mr Ante Topić Mimara (1898 – 1987), painter, conservator-restorer, and collector, left to his homeland via a donation made in 1973 and 1986, wishing for the museum to become a cultural and educational centre whose daily activity would fulfil all areas of social communication by enrichening and giving purpose to everyday life in Zagreb.”

Remembering the extent and quality of the layers of all of the Museum’s exhibits and everyday vibrant activities of the Museum while finding an incentive for the future – these are the goals that the exhibition is aimed at.
