Festival season in Croatia is upon us, and while all the talk may be about Ultra Europe, TCN’s Tina Milicic reports back on an altogether different festival on Hvar, named by Vogue UK as its best boutique festival in Europe.
Hvar has a hidden place even British Vogue is peeking in to see
With worldwide popular ULTRA festival prepping to kick off this Monday in Hvar town, another, far more secluded/mysterious event taking place last weekend in the hearts of island Hvar caught British Vogue’s attention.
A cult fashion magazine, Vogue compiled a list of top ten boutique festivals to see this season, and its number one place to be this summer is ESCAPE Community. This emerging venue had its official first edition starting last week. Having visited, we can only agree with British Vogue’s estimation:
“This year’s first of two scheduled ESCAPE events, brought us double the playground and double the intimacy. “
New camp areas, with pertaining facilities and bars, provided more private space and comfort for campers. The additional room also catered to interesting new programs like cinema projections of VICE short documentaries, Kulturforum workshops and special Kids creative spaces for exploration.
The sea was mesmerizingly clear, the food was indulgent, drinks were abundant; the crowd was mixed and relaxed. Such were the days at ESCAPE Community. The evenings, however, were reserved for, equally as the festival itself, emerging musicians spicing up the atmosphere. We had the privilege to enjoy Duo Mao harmonica interpretations, LUCE’s soft and strong voice, joining in with her growing-up- band Nellcote, as well as indulgent Sergio Lounge performance.
Mornings after were times for sweet recollections of night’s rhythms through sunrise yoga and the first swims of the day. Being there again this summer, we report that ESCAPE Community has once again delivered on its promise offering a magically secret boutique outlet to escape on island Hvar.
