Around 20 projects in rail, road, maritime, public and air transport have been defined.
On Thursday, the government sent the Transport Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia from 2017 to 2030 for parliamentary procedure, reports Poslovni.hr, on August 27, 2017. As Minister of Transport Oleg Butković said, the strategy provides a framework for the development of the country’s transport sector.
The strategy defines 16 objectives that are applicable to the transport sector, 37 specific objectives and 118 measures allocated to 6 transport sectors – rail, road, air, maritime and inland waterway, public urban, suburban and regional transport. “The adoption of the strategy ensures unconditional spending of resources from EU funds for more than 20 projects regarding all modes of traffic, which are valued at about EUR 2 billion in total,” Butković says.
The minister pointed out several projects such as the Pelješac bridge with access roads, the purchase of electric trains, the renovation of the tram infrastructure in Osijek and Zagreb, the purchase of new trams and new ships for the transport of passengers to the islands and the completion of the Dubrovnik Airport, among other projects. The government has also adopted the Structural Reform Support Program from 2017 to 2020. Vice President and Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Martina Dalić said that the plan contains a list of projects that will be directly funded by the European Commission (EC), 15 of them worth 1.8 billion euros.
