Liberland 1st Anniversary Approaching: Conference Near Osijek on New Balkan Economic Powerhouse

The self-proclaimed state of Liberland on Croatia’s eastern border celebrates its first anniverary next month, with a conference on the Croatian side of its border. 

It is a project which has captured the imaginations of literally hundreds of thousands of people all over the world, who have been applying for citizenship in Europe’s newest (albeit so far only self-declared) country, and the self-proclaimed Free Republic of Liberland will celebrate its anniversary with a conference called Liberland: Turning the Balkans into a New Economic Powerhouse, according to the official Liberland Facebook page on March 27, 2016.

“On the occasion of celebrating the one year anniversary of Free Republic of Liberland, the conference discussing the potential economic power that Liberland can establish in the Balkans is one-of-a-kind. Some of the best capacities in field of libertarian politics, economics, philosophy, entrepreneurship will unite to propose valuable ideas for the vision that Liberland brings. The conference will present the view that a free market in Liberland based on libertarian principles with minimal state regulations, voluntary taxation and other key aspects can turn itself into a model for the future.”

The gathering, which will take place from April 15-17, will include a day of keynote speakers at Hotel Lug, close to Osijek, on Saturday, April 16.
