ZAGREB, March 15, 2018 – Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Wednesday sent a letter of congratulations to Angela Merkel who was elected to a fourth term as German chancellor and invited her to conduct an official visit to Croatia.
“I above all wish to congratulate you after winning the elections for being elected as chancellor of the German federal government for a fourth term. I look forward to continuing close cooperation between Germany and Croatia on the political, economic and cultural fronts, as well as building the common European project based on the values we share,” the prime minister’s letter of congratulations said as reported in a press release from the government.
“Having in mind the fact that Croatia and Germany are to chair the Council of the European Union one after the other in 2020, I am certain that in the coming period we will have an opportunity for more intensive cooperation and coordination with regard to European priority topics. I would like to use this opportunity to send you an invitation for an official visit to Croatia at a time that best suits you,” Plenković added in his letter.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday took an oath to serve her fourth term as Chancellor following her election by the Bundestag.
