Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić gives the Belgian capital a taste of Croatia.

Croatian products are sought after by many a tourist visiting these shores, and a lot of the gastronomic delights the country offers just keep people coming back for more and more with very little effort.

From island products to cured meats and rich wines, Croatia has seen numerous protections allocated to its produce at the European level, and the country must do all it can to make sure the bodies of the EU recognise the attention and help Croatia requires to keep producers, particularly farmers, protected from any type of unfair trade policies which could be harmful to Croatian products.

The event was attended by numerous representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, permanent representatives of EU Member States, embassies and economic associations.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 20th of March, 2018, Minister Tomislav Tolušić was in Brussels on March the 19th, 2018, where a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries of the European Union took place.

After the meeting of the Council, Tolušić hosted a welcome presentation of Croatian agricultural and food products under the titled “Taste of Croatia”, where nineteen producers of more than sixty Croatian products were introduced to the city of the seat of the European Union.

In addition to products proudly wearing their European protection status stamps, of which there are a growing number from Croatia, fish specialties from the coast, specialties of Croatia’s rich continental cuisine, and a selection of protected wines were also presented.

The event was attended by numerous representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, permanent representatives of European Union Member States, various embassies and numerous economic associations.

“Every opportunity to promote our products needs to be utilised. We’re the youngest member of the European Union, and I’m sure we’ve got the most interesting gastro story on the continent and we’ve got to tell it. Here, we’re promoting the importance of short supply chains and linking the tourism sector with our OPGs. It’s very important for us that new EU legislation works in the benefit of our farmers’ specific needs, who must be protected from unfair trading practices, and they require help in further investment in food production,” stated Minister Tomislav Tolušić from the Belgian capital.
