Any fans of classic cars out there? Istria is hosting two attractive events next weekend that might be to your liking
Rovinj traveled back in time this past Sunday with a ceremonial parade staged by the automobile club Istra Oldtimer. Its members drove to the Maršal Tito Square in their vintage beauties to announce two traditional events: the Histria Classic oldtimer meetup and the 4th Andreas v Bismarck Memorial, reported Glas Istre on April 22, 2018.
The president of the Istra Oldtimer club Dubravko Zelko announced that the Istrian city of Vrsar will host the 4th edition of the Andreas Bismarck Memorial on May 4, featuring a precision drive through the narrow streets of the old town. The manifestation is named after the late German count Andreas von Bismarck, otherwise known as the grandson of the prominent Prussian statesman Otto von Bismarck.
According to Zelko, certain members of the German aristocracy who had been friends with Andreas von Bismarck have already confirmed their attendance. To pay tribute to the untimely deceased count who had a great fondness for both Istria and classic cars back in his day, the parade will be headed by his widow Charlotte Von Bismarck.
A day later, on May 5, Vrsar will host the starting line of the competitive part of the event: Histria Classic, a traditional rally whose track of 170 kilometres will take the contenders across Istria, ending back in Rovinj where the winners will be presented with awards.
Ever since its first day, the oldtimer rally Histria Classic has been an event that encompasses all of Istria. The main goal for the organisers is to present the beauty of the Istrian peninsula and its renowned gourmet delights to the visitors arriving from Germany, Italy, Slovenia and all of Croatia, explained Zelko, adding that this jubilee edition on Histria Classic boasts the motto ‘Fragrances of Istria’ owing to the gastronomic theme.
Both events are part of the wider programme of the Tourist Board of Rovinj and are funded by numerous sponsors, including the distinguished hotel group Maistra.
