Green is the colour to aim for with one environmentally conscious association from Zadar.
As eZadar writes on the 6th of May, 2018, in both May and June this year, the “Eco-Zadar” association will carry out two projects aimed at contributing to the development of ecological tourism on Silba and Veli Iž.
The “ZaZeleni otok: Silba” and “ZaZeleni otok: Veli Iž” projects are financed by the City of Zadar based on the results of public tender for the funding projects thought up by associations from the area of development of the islands.
Within these projects, leaflets intended for tourists visiting Silba and Veli Iž to educate themselves on environmentally friendly behaviour in order to protect the environment and the beautiful nature of these islands will be designed and locally distributed, there will also be a lecture held under the title “ten steps to eco certification for private tourist accommodation”.
The lecture itself will be held by Nastja Logar, head of the “Dalmatia Green Program” developed by the Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development “Sunce” from the Dalmatian capital of Split. This program encourages sustainable tourism, which includes the idea of tourists staying in sustainable accommodation facilities, offering local and organic food, unique souvenirs, the promotion of sustainable activities, and more environmentally responsible ways of travelling and visiting unique “undiscovered” locations across Dalmatia.
As part of the lecture, renters will be shown the already known “Dalmatia Green Certificate” from the Croatian Ministry of Tourism, intended for those renting accommodation facilities to tourists who want to make a clear separation from ”classic” private accommodation renters out on the market by classical renters, and oriented themselves more towards eco-conscious guests.
The lecture will of course also include content intended for members of the island community who aren’t professionally involved with renting out private accommodation, there will also be a talk on the steps that other factors involved in becoming eco-friendly, developing eco tourism, and steps that the islanders can take to become more environmentally aware.
The lecture will be held on June the 6th, 2018 in the House of Culture (Dom Kulture) on Veli Iž, and on June the 13th on the premises of MO Silba.
